RATIONALE:              

Following very strong requests from our school P & C Association, the following policy is to be implemented in line with accepted Sun Awareness regulations.

POLICY STATEMENT:  

“No Hat – Play under shelter area and/or roofed walkway outside basements and/or C.O.L.A.”

GUIDELINES:

·         All students if playing outdoors must wear a maroon, broad-brimmed hat (brim – 7cm+ wide).

·         Students without hats will be directed to play in the designated areas before school, during recess and lunch periods.

·         Students participating in PE/sport/outdoor activities in external school areas must wear a school hat.

·         Students attending a designated outdoor excursion must wear a school hat. No school hat results in exclusion from attending the excursion.

·         Hats are not to be worn in the classrooms or other indoor areas.

·         Teachers, parents/guardians are encouraged to model appropriate safeguards by wearing hats when outdoors.

·         Strong encouragement for clear labelling of hats with student names will be given.
